About the course

This UT Level 1 course gives you a solid foundation in ultrasonic testing (UT), combining essential theory with plenty of hands-on practice. You will learn how sound waves are used to detect internal flaws in materials and how to apply that knowledge in real-world inspections.

What will you learn?

We keep it practical, clear and applicable. Expect to dive into:

  • Understanding ultrasonic principles and wave propagation.
  • How to calibrate UT equipment and handle probes with confidence.

Hands-on practice in:

  • Measuring wall thicknesses
  • Inspecting castings and forgings
  • Testing welds with simple geometry (e.g. welds in plates or pipes)

New to NDT? We recommend taking our NDT Introduction course first, but it is not mandatory to participate in this course.

Certification and examination

KTN Belgium is an officially recognized certified ISO 9712 training and examination center, accredited by Hobéon SKO. If you pass the exam – and meet the additional requirements – you can obtain an internationally recognized Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Level 1 certificate. A strong boost for your career in NDT.
